In the period from December to the end of January 2021, with the support of our old friend and partner from Great Britain – the organization World Jewish Relief (WJR). This organization has been cooperating with us since the summer of 2014. All these years, thanks to the WJR, old and helpless people have been provided with food, sanitation and hygiene, Thanks to the, elderly people have been evacuated from fire line. Now we received a grant of £ 10,000, which allowed us to provide humanitarian assistance with food, hygiene and care for the immobile elderly. 384 people aged 70+ who have problems with movement and live in 14 villages near the line of contact in Donbass received help: Vodyanoye, Pervomaiskoye, Verkhnetoretskoye, Novoselovka, Novoselovka-1, Zhelannoye, Novokalinovo, Keramik, Novobahmutovka-2, Ocheretyanovye, Semeretyanoye, and Alexandropol. Unfortunately, a large number of elderly people are lonely, because young people have moved to big cities, in addition, these settlements are in the buffer zone, which creates considerable obstacles to full mobility. Public transport either does not run at all or runs very rarely. That is why our friendly organization NGO “Slavic Heart” and TLU volunteers helped us to carry out this mission. Our colleagues delivered packages of food and sanitation to each house to 384 people. The organization of delivery was also complicated by the epidemiological situation in the region. But the slippery roads, frosty weather and short length of the day did not prevent our 2 volunteers from Kiev, who came to help to colleagues from Svyatogorsk, because women were not easy to unload, pack and reload trucks. We are also grateful to colleagues from the German Federal Fund – EVZ, who added 1,500 euros, which gave us the opportunity to deliver assistance directly to each home.
Simple things like food and sanitation are very important for the lonely, and inmobile elderly people.
